Hello from East Texas

Post by 1951 F3 »

Hello from East Texas! :)

Hopefully I am in the right place LOL! I am looking for an F-250 Dana 60 3:54 or 3:73 rear end. Does anyone know of a "good" junkyard within 250 miles of Dallas that would have several donor trucks available?

I appreciate the help.

Thank you

David,

Welcome from Louisiana! We have lots of Texas members. I'm sure they will chime in.

Good luck.

David,

:wel: from Bartow, Florida.

That shouldn't be too hard to find.

You need one for a dually right?

Jeff,

Thanks for the welcome. No sir, the rear end I need is not a dually. Single wheels. It is pretty much a direct bolt in to replace the older lower geared 4:86 I have in my 51 F-3.

It hasn't been restored. But she's been in the shop out of the elements. I had a setback with her awhile back. The engine that came with it had to be tweaked on to get it started. I put a rebuilt carb on it, cleaned the fuel system, new tune-up parts. It ran but didn't sound good. Broken oil pump, cracked blocked and valves that were stuck. I have a different engine and it looks like I will have to go through that one as well and get it restored. But alas......between the job and a wife that doesn't want to see too much money go into it.

I have to work on getting it below 500KB, this site won't take anything larger?.

Sounds like you need a graphics editing program.
I use a program called IrfanView. (I know, funny name. But it works pretty good, and best of all, it's FREE!)

David,
the rear end I need is not a dually. Single wheels.
I got a SRW D60 axle from an 86' E-350, (still have it).
The spring perches will be on different centers than what you need I'm sure.
Don't just limit your search for this axle to the "F" model trucks.

Did you try the Dallas CL?

Dallas CL? The reason I am limiting my search to 67-72 F-250's Dana 60's (3:54 or 3:73) is because they are a "direct" bolt in. No modifications needed except shiming for changing the pinon angle. All other years need cutting, welding and too much modification. I haven't ran across an E-250 from 67-72.....have you? Don't think they were ever made or too many are still around.

Welcome from Northeast Texas. Not any yards around here that I would recommend. My experiences haven't very good without going to Shreveport, La. and they were pricey.
