Paint gun suggestions
I am looking to invest in a paint gun, I don't want to break the bank any suggestions? I am a garage hobbyist that is still learning body work but want something reasonably priced. What's the best bang for the buck now a days. I use sears craftsman and harborfreight guns to shoot primer but I am getting the urge to start shooting some paint and clears.

today i happened to buy a paint gun, to shoot my paint job on my 69 resto.
i joined a few forums asking the same question. most said that the purple harbor freight gun is the best buy in the paint gun world. so thats what i got.
its supposed to shoot really nicely for being $50.00. i got mine for $40.00 since it was on sale.
here is a picture of me unpacking it an hour ago...

it comes with a 1.4 tip, which is good for spraying paint, but i plan on ordering a bigger tip for epoxy primers.

Thanks for the photos, thats the one I use but just for primers. I was thinking somwhere down the line of a devilibiss starting line gun set, they are reasonably priced and you know your getting quality. I am not going to be spending 3-4 hundred dollars on a gun yet. I have also heard that that the TP tools guns are good for the buck. I guess I'll wait to our paint and body experts show up.

Well Ryan did good on his gun. You dont have to spend big bucks to get a nice paint job from a gun. But i like to use a gun for one thing and nothing else. I have one i use for nothing but primer and sealers. One for color and one for clears. Also it dont have to be a HVLP type unless you are limted on air supply. My primer sealer gun has a 1.8 set up and works super. On base clear jobs i like the 1.4 it will atomize the material better. On plain enamel jobs im still old fashioned and still use a binks model 7 that really puts out the material. My primer sealer gun is a $100 gun from Orielys but i have a brand new gun still in the box just like ryans i got for christmas. I also have a small detail i got from Mac tools for doing touch up work. The detail gun and the primer gun both have aluminum cups. I have 5 guns total all being gravity fed but my binks. I used to have a accuspray with 4 differnt setups for it but i sold it and wish i hadnt. That gun was pressure fed with 10lbs of pressure in the cup. I used to think you had to spend the big bucks for a gun to get super paint jobs. But if you clean you equipment right it will work for you.

re: Paint gun suggestions
Ive painted with, sold, rebuilt, and used about every gun out there. I personally use a Sharpe Finex non HVLP 1.3 tip on all my work. They are very high quality for the money and will last along time. If I had big money for a gun I would go with an Iwata.

Like i said underdog97 if you clean your gun right it will perform good for you. But i also dont leave any thing in a gun but thinner.
You also dont have to spend 3-500 to get a nice paint job. I worked in a shop for 30 yrs and painted for the last 25 of it. I own 1 harbor freight gun still new in the box 1 mac tools detail gun with a 0.8 tip, 1 sata very old gun with a 1.4 tip, 1 binks 7, 1 orilieys hvlp with a 1.8 tip this gun is a sata knock off.
