re: wheels and tires
Boots,
They should fit on your truck. You have drums right? Even if you have discs they should fit on the F-100. 250s and 350s need a little grinding on the calipers to get em to clear and you have to make sure your tire man puts the weights to the extreme inside or outside of the wheel because there's not much clearance even after a little grinding.

re: wheels and tires
Well, its got to be on a 16.5" diameter rim. Going the other way around, there have been cases where 16" tires were mounted on 16.5" rims, with deadly results.
As far as the rim width, 9.75" is recommended but usually there's a range of 8.25" - 10.5" for street and A/T tires. Don't know about swampers though, probably makes it easier to break the bead.
I've got 9.75" rims on some 33x12.50R16.5 tires, anything narrower would look kind of funny.

re: wheels and tires
Remember I've got an F250 with 8-lug wheels.
I've seen 16.5x8.25 wheels in the 5x5 1/2 lug pattern (Eagles?) but not in a 9.75 width unless you have them custom made.
16.5 inch wheels and tires are a dieing breed. I wouldn't let a set of tires lock you into an unpopular wheel size. That's the boat I'm in now. Spent over two years searching for a set of period correct 8-lug 16.5 inch aluminum slot mags 'cause I like 'em a lot. Didn't have many choices for tires and in a couple years from now I'll be SOL.
