Tranny paint

What's the original color on a 1970 3 spd manual transmission? Or did they even paint 'em? Swapping mine out and would like to paint it before puttin' it in.

They were never painted. Transmissions were not painted for the most part. Engines leak enough to keep the things from rusting too much.

Good point :lol: Now that you mention it, I was going to have to do some substantial degreasing to get any paint to stick to it. :wink: Thanks.
