Barn paint overspray...

Post by fastEdsel »

Sorry boys but this is on a Chrysler. But a neighbor and I used to take our Ford's to parades and show and shines, and he died. In one of his sheds was a prisitne 1968 Chrysler Newport Custom 4 door sedan with 30,500 orignial miles, 383 auto and covered with grain dust. His family knew how close we were so they offered it to me at a very good price, and I bought it. I guess at some point he painted one of his out buildings with green oil based barn paint and a very fine mist got onto this already green car. It's not really noticeable, but just has a rough feel to the smoothness that should be on glossy paint. I have tried polish compound, gas, diesel fuel and even some reducer on a small area of chrome but nothing seems to move this old paint. Short of re-painting this already straight and totally rust free car, what are my options? :?

Whatever you try, make sure you try it in a spot that isn't right in the center of everything. You don't want to try something and remove the actual paint. I think turtle wax makes a cleaner!!! That removes stuff like that, but I can't think of the name of it off of the top of my head!!!

Thank You all! I will try these sites and will try to post pics as well. Will try to do something with these products before I wet-sand it with 1000 grit and spray it with clear coat. I just hate to do that to old paint for fear of blistering.
