por-15. do i need marine clean AND metal-ready? (keith!)

im ordering the POR-15 six pack (six 4oz. cans), and want to know if i need to order metal ready AND marine clean? i want good adhension. but dont want to waste my money.
im sure keith knows the answer to this.

also, should i get black, or semi-gloss black?
keith if your reading this, what did you use? i like the look of yours :thup:

IIRC, POR-15 is glossy. Keith sprayed his (while still tacky) with a semigloss? krylon rattle can.

I got both Marine Clean and Metal Ready just to be safe.

Yes, for best results you need both. You degrease the metal with MarineClean and then use the MetalReady,which puts an etch to the metal so the POR-15 will adhere better. You could probably get by without either, but why cut corners? The stuff you put on could start coming off with the recommended prep first.

Keith, it looks like you only used metal-ready in your 67 project. do you think that marine clean is un-necessary, or did you wipe the cab down extra or something :?

No, I used both. I followed their instructions to the letter, since I didn't want to have any problems in the future with the POR-15 lifting off.

allright thanks. so the total is about 106.00 with the por-15 six-pack (six 4oz cans) , gallong of metal ready, and a gallon of marineclean.
hopefuly that will do it, atleast for now :D
