Weird Steering Problem

Post by moparmania »

I searched all the forums but couldn't find an answer to this so here goes...

I can turn my truck to the left and the power steering works fine but when I turn the truck to the right, it goes into manual steering mode. Is the problem with the power steering pump, the steering gear, or something else? Maybe something simple as a loose belt? Thanks!

Well since you have power steering turning one way i think you can say that the pump, belts and lines are good. I would say its your power steering box/gear that has something wrong with it. This is just a guess though.

the box could have gotten a air pocket in it. or the valve in the box may have gone bad.

Put the front up on blocks, fire it up and turn it from lockk to lock a a number of times and see what that does.
