I want to remove the paint and rust from my truck to keep it from rusting anymore. As far as I can tell, it is mostly surface rust. I have heard the many ways of removing the paint but what is the process of putting on primer so it will last and not need much reapplying. What kind of primer do I need to use? Thanks in advance.

if you strip the paint off to metal, and just spray on primer, i think your going to have some problems. primer by itself, is known to actually absorb water, rusting the area under the primer even more.
however, i believe you can lay down some primer, then apply some paint over the primer to prevent this.
