You'll need to cut the rust out and weld in good metal. Yeah, it sucks...but anything worth doing is worth doing right!
Typically, bumpside beds rust out right where the side-panel support rod is welded to the flat piece of steel in each corner of the bed. Is this where yours is rusted out too? If so, it's an easy fix with some flat steel patches.

i think so? Nice video, and theme music.
I'm not sure what abumpside is. I know it's a 67 longbed.

re: rusty bed in 4 corners

no, would be the short answer. You want to remove the sick metal(rust) completely, then you can weld in a piece to replace it. If you don't your cover-up will rust in short order.

i'm not sure on the gauge. I was given a piece of sheet metal to patch my floorboard with, but it was waaayyy too thin so i just used little pieces.
You might be able to get a junkyard to cut you a piece out of a trashed bed for a few bucks. At least you know it would be right gauge, just have them cut it out few inches bigger than you think you need just in case.

Cool...
I just figured when I got to that part, I'd have to cut it back to good metal anyway, so I was just gonna take to a local welding shop where I got the stock to do the tongue of the bump trailer...
