if you go over the surface with at least 150grit it will lay out smooth. I would do like 220 or higher if you want it to be realy smooth.

i asked this because im thinking about painting the innerfenders/jack (and mount)/and some other doodads.

do you think if i paint inner fenders with POR-15 with a paintbrust, that it will be easy tosee the paint stroke marks?

I'd recommend some semi gloss engine enamel for those panels.

It will lay out pretty well, but I wouldn't do the inner fenders with it.

BTW, if you have not read my previous postings, DO NOT get por 15 on any thing you don't want it on, also do not paint anything that moves if you want it to move gain (bolts, nuts, screws, JACKS) without disassembly and protection of the moving surfaces.

thanks for the bolt info. i wouldnt put POR-15 on the moving parts of a jack though, thats just stupid :D
i didnt think about bolts and stuff. i guess when i do the frame ill have to remove every bolt etc.

what about brackets on the frame? do i have to remove those too  ?

i wouldnt remove any riveted brackets from the frame. when you brush on your por 15 you use a sponge brush not a regular paint brush with bristles on it.

oh i didnt know that.
makes since.
i dont think it would really be a problem sealing brackets on though anyways, since with a small sponge brush you can run along just before the bracket, so it isnt sealed on.

Here's a shot taken of the bottom of my cab with DRY Gloss POR-15. You decide whether it's glossy or rough. ;)

...and here's a shot taken of the floorpan area after using POR-15 followed up with several coats of Krylon Semi-Flat black, while the POR-15 was tacky.

fordman is correct...you don't use a bristled brush, you use foam brushes/rollers. I used the small foam rollers on virtually everything except the nooks and crannies, and the foam brushes worked great for that. You don't really need the rollers, though...the brushes will work just fine, and any brush strokes will smooth right now. You can pick these up for next to nothing, which is good since each brush is single-use-only.

I did my inner fenders with it too, after sandblasting and proper prep. They turned out great.

If you mean with POR15

Well, the reasons I would not are:

It is going to dry glossy, mine are glossy and I don't like it...

Although it levels out pretty well, I doubt it is going to level out enough to cover ALL of the strokes.

It is such a large area, its going to be difficult to do the entire thing before the coat is too dry to recoat.

If you mean with regular paint:

Thats the way to go.
