1970 Door Data Tag for a F100, not on the decoder page list?

Post by l1k2gadd »

Hi everyone, I've been away for the computer for a few weeks, and last weekend, after not being out and about for about a month, I went to my favorite wrecking yard, and, of all things they got a new Bumpside in. It surprised me to see it is obviously an F100, but there was no bed on it. After grabbing the door data tag and getting online tonight to decode it I am surprised to see some of the information doesn't seem to be on the decoder pages for the 1970. Can anyone shed some light on the codes that aren't on the 1970 decoder page? Thanks.

It looks like this is a Cab and Chassis F100, 302, 4-speed - Warner T-18?

I think it is a 72, and a pretty late 72 as well.

Wonder how it can be a chassis cab (F173) and a styleside pickup (3).

F173, and the body is 3 & 8. The DSO is 76. Did I mess up decoding the 61645 production number? Is it supposed to be P61645? Duh? I'll go look again.

(edit) DUH DUH, okay, I see it now. Thanks!! Now I know why I couldn't find the P on the '70 decoder page.

Oops on the 175/173.

Ah, and 3 is parchment custom interior and 8 is the chassis cab...

So there we go...

Duh again. I didn't see a place for the interior color on the data tag abbreviations. I think I am just too used to seeing TRIM on the Mustang and Cougar door data tags, or as I get older I am forgetting more and more about the door data tags in general.

(edit)Since this is only an F100 it made me wonder what was on the back of the truck since what was there at one time is gone. There is a sticker or something I saw inside of the truck about "tours" or something so it could have come from Silver Springs Attraction or one of the local parks or museums.

Thanks again.
