anything wrong with running a disk m/c with 4 wheel drums?

Post by kilog55 »

the booster and m/c i got has the larger rear reservior so i assume it is for front disk rear drums can i use it? dont think there was anything wrong with the old one.

if there is a problem then maybe ill swap it on the 79 since i know i need a new one there

also i ordered the non adjustable brake rod on and the one they sent has the adjustable rod on it with the part that bolts to the pedal

My m/c has the large rear reservior and it's on a drum/drum setup and my parts truck has the same m/c with large rear reservior and it's a disc/drum setup so i'm not sure it matters.

Front drums might lock up sooner and harder. The disk MC pushes more fluid to the front.

Mine too. It looks like it was a redesign to give the front brakes a larger reservoir, no relation to disc or drum use.

welp i got er did after i put the brackets on wrong it was smooth sailing almost.

had to make a new brake line cause the new m/c that came with the booster i bought had a big hole and a little hole, well the lines i got from fordman had both big fittings so i had to bend a line but oh well not his fault they were oem so its bendix's new design that is/was flawed. i also had to remove every line and pull the dist. block off cause the old lines that i broke before were stuuuuck.

so its all back together and bled out and man she stops like a bike if you grab the front brakes.

sooo much better i just gotta get used to easing on the brakes now.

i have to bend a new line for my 93 it had one rust out. how did you bend yours?/ did you use any kind of tools? i have a conduit bender but i dont think it will work on a short bend for a brake line.

i used a tubing bender it has 4 different grooves for diff size tubing the tight bends were hard i used my fingers as a guide similar to this one if not the same took alot of thinking to get the bends the way they were supposed to be

Image

for the bends at the connections i left the fitting where it should be and moved up to the 3rd largest size but for small tight bends i used my fingers like i said. and they cam out pretty decent but not pretty by any means for the curls you have to bend it in stages or it will be as small as the bender part. just do it slow like everything important
