Source for door lock cylindars?

Post by SoCal »

I didnt get keys for my truck when I bought it. I use a screwdriver for now to start it. I need to stop by NAPA for a new ignition.
LMC wants $60+ for door lock cylinders and keys...... is that the going rate?
Seems steep. :?

good news. you should have waited. the door lock cylinder has a number on it. take the lock to the locksmith and he will make a key to fit the lock withthose numbers. it cost 15.00 and no shipping.

Thanks for the feedback but I dont see a locksmith only charging $15 for a re-key in these parts. Smiths charge a premium out here. I feel good with my purchase.

true but that is assuming both lock and the ignition are the same key and not swapped out in some point in time. good info non the less

Hey all I've got something on this I'd like to pass along. The door lock cylinders and ignition tumblers from dents are the same as our trucks. The only difference is the lever on the end of the door locks. The levers can be swapped out with a pocket screwdriver in less time than it took me to type this.I've got a set from a 76 in my 67. :D
