metal work

Post by f100jeeper »

I'm looking at having a shop do some metal work (replacing the bed floor and wheel housing sheet metal). For just cutting out the old pieces and welding in the new, what am I looking at for a per hour rate? I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find anything by searching

I would think the hourly rates will vary greatly depending on the business....so the shop doing your work is the only place who can answer that question.

body shops around here used to be 35.00 an hour. that was several years ago i heard about that. ask your insurance agent they should know. or ask a body shop for an estimate.

I'd think as plentiful as bump sheetmetal is in the NW you could find a premo bed for far less than rust repairs on your old one.

Thanks for the input, I'm budgeting things out, doing one section at a time. I wanted to go to a local shop, but didn't want to get ripped off since it's apparent I'm not that familiar with going rates.
