Can I change Tie Rod Ends?

Post by uboughtwhat? »

I am getting ready to put a disc brake set-up from a 79 that I got from Basketcase under my 68 F100. Here's the question;

When using a 79 front end under a bump, where the tie rod attaches to the "whatchamacallit", it is thicker than a bump.

Can I use my 68 steering linkage and just change the tie rod ends so the bolt on the tie rod end is long enough to reach through the "whatchamacallit" or will I have no other choice but to change all the steering linkage?

I apologize for the overly technical terms :) It's late and my brain has turned to mush

i think you might be able to change just the tie rod so it will fit inthe thicker spidle hole. it should thread into or onto the other deal clamp i mean.
