BODYSIDE MOLDING.
Hey guys, i have the 3"plus bodyside molding on my 70. three quarters of it is dinged or bent. Iv'e seen new molding packages for $599 to $699 WOW! Should i replace or anyone had luck with straighting that stuff. Would like to keep it the ranger package, but replacing will kill my budget.
I could replace a little at a time i guess, just wondering on any suggestions.

re: BODYSIDE MOLDING.
On my molding we got most of the bad dents out! But if you want it just right you will have to spin so much time trying to fix it! Im talking about 3 weeks of siting down ever day and pounding ever little part out. Bad thing is about are tirm its aluminum and once you pound it out to far you will never get it back!. Body man and I have got my trim looking a lot better but its sure not new looking. So Im going to save back some money and buy a one of the 500 600$ kits
And I still need a bunch of other small things. Grille molding dash pad emblems to much small stuff.

Thanks guys im a ways from the exterior. Still working on the interior.I would really love a new set. My budget on this truck is about $3500. I'm about $1000 into it now. Once you start you uncover a lot that needs work. I can do without the trim for a while.
Anyone reading in texas i need help with junk yards that have these bumps. Have found a few but they wany to sell the whole truck. I don't have room for parts trucks + they want $1900 and up for junk trucks down here. I will post some pics once i learn how to use this site to it's full extent

re: BODYSIDE MOLDING.
Well.. There is a massive yard in Grand Prarie (See http://www.texasautosalvage.com/page3.htm ) - they had a $20 all-you-can-carry late last year that I missed and I still haven't found time to visit. I did call them some time back and they claim to have some 70s trucks still in the yard (of course, the person on the phone won't tell you exactly which years). The only yard I've been to is actually in Plano, but all they have left now are a few dentsides that have been pretty well stripped.
I've only got trim for the 70 and thats going back on after paint. Like my 72, most of the bumps I see around here on craigslist don't have trim.
There's good info on restoring the trim in some older posts.

Thanks for the reply nausea. I know the one in gp. Also ctc auto ranch in denton but he's not open on sat. Will have to wait till next vac day. None of these yard guys will tell you anything on the phone. you can go online and look at ctc auto ranch but he wants to sell you the whole truck.

Called the salvage in gp tx. The guy told me he didn't think he had any trucks our year. He is open on sat. Gonna try to get out there and see if he's got anything. Let you all know.
