Repairing an inner fender with a panel? Anyone done that?

Post by JWW »

Has anyone every repaired an inner fender by replacing the upper hood mount? BOTP has this one you can weld in, but I didn't know if anyone has done that.

that was the only way to do it years ago. that piece was available as were the shorter versions. the only thing with those is that thye arnet pre drilled for the hood hinges so you have to guess were to put the holes in them for the hood hinges.

YES! I have done it before. It turned out really well. Mine was a bolt in one. Mine had everything pre-drilled. Got them for like $20 off ebay.

Don't you have to do quite a bit of fabrication?

dentside fenders would require figuring out the hood hinge mounts. and the rest will bolt on with the exception of one bolt hole wont line up and the inner fender to firewall mount.

Nope, no fabrication at all. Bolt in.

Looks like all I need are the firewall brackets and the proper hood hinges.

"Inner fenderwells - All '67-'72 F100 thru F350 inner fenderwells will interchange. However, the inner fenderwells of 2WD trucks have a longer skirt than those of the 4WD trucks, but they can be trimmed to fit 2WD trucks. The left-side fenderwell on trucks equipped with an Onan generator are notched for the generator set-up.

'73-'79 inner fenderwells can be made to fit, but require some tweaking. You'll need the matching hood hinges and firewall brackets (which are narrower than the '67-'72 brackets). "

Thanks for the help.
