Removing Hood Letters

Easy question, how do you remove the hood letters? Thanks

that depends on the year. some are bolts in and some have a barrel keeper that hold them in. the barrel keeper type you tap out from beind the letter. the others you just slowly remove the nuts from the back side.

on the barrel type, dont you have to pinch the barbs together to get them to come out?

I've removed both kinds a few times...

I just use a tack hammer to remove the ones with the barrel type fasteners.
You have to work it back and forth... tap a little and go the other one and work it a little at a time

The others like has been said just has a half nut with neoprene inside.

If you have a rubber coated little pry bar they will come off by prying them off and leave the clips in the body. If you dont have a rubber coated pry bar you could do one of two things get a plastic windshield sttick from a glass place or get a can of plastic dip from like harbor freight.
