1/2 Ton factory toolbox? 68 F100

I am new to this site and am excited to have found it! I have a 68 1/2 ton I bought locally here in rural SW Virginia. The truck is one of the cleanest original daily drivers I've seen. It is a 1/2 ton F100 with a 360. It is an automatic with power steering and power brakes. My question is this: the truck has a factory toolbox in the passenger side of the bed. Is this original for a 1/2 ton? Thanks for your advice. I look forward to learning more about this truck and restoring it to original condition over the next few years.

yes those toolboxes were original in 68. i dont know if that was the first year they were put on or not i cant remember.

Someone told me he thought they were not original to a 1/2 ton and were only found on the 3/4 ton camper special. Any thoughts?

no they did come on the 1/2 tons.

My 1/2 ton has one and i have seen to many 1/2 tons to be only a 3/4 ton option.
