Stereo options

Hey folks,

Just came up with this the other day. It has to do with my falcon but I figured I'd share anyway. Got really sick of hearing no music so decided to put in a stereo.

Wanted to keep the dash looking stock so had to come up with another mounting location and decided to put it behind the seat. Now, had to figure out how not to $(%* up the interior too much and went with velcro stuck to the back wall. Took a 1/2 inch piece of plywood covered in carpet and mounted a universal stereo mounting kit from Best Buy. Wired up the truck and used trailer connectors for everything. Now I can unplug the unit pull it off the back wall and take out the 6x9s that are in boxes on the back floor when I want to show it. Just thought you guys without in cab gas tanks might be interested.

This worked out great, and it sounds good too.

That looks like a good idea. Is the head unit on a remote control? Kinda hard to change channels or tracks while driving.

Nope, but will be looking into it. I'm the kinda guy that just puts it on and listens to it. My kids always rag me but, what can I say, I know what I like to listen to and that works for me. I usually try to find a station that plays a variety, I can't do a whole CD of something. Just doesn't work.

That's cool. Just wondering how well the head unit would receive the signal from a remote being in that position.

In your first picture, what is the metal post secured to rear cab wall?
Is that an under bed spare tire carrier?

That's the in cab spare tire carrier. I've been looking for another rim to complete the set for shows. Know where I can get another 13 inch rim with the four bolt pattern? 13 inch, pretty funny huh? Once I get one and put it in I'll take a pic and show it. Sure is easy to steer though unlike the 68. Which hopefully will have P/S within a couple of weeks.

That does look good. Plus, being able to "plug and go" is pretty neat.

I've seen that same mount from Pep Boys mounted to the headliner of 67-72 trucks...works out pretty good.
