light mounting hardware

Post by layedout72 »

does anybody know the specs or anything on this? My dad wants the truck legal and thats whats really holding me back. Trying to find a grill, and not wanting to buy crap for this one. Anyways, I need it for a 72, is there special clips or anything? The previous owner seemed to think that random screws and coat hangers worked well enough.

seems like they tell you the amount you need after looking at it a bit closer. but here is what i have to be safe if someone does have a few minutes free time.

Bezel Screw- 8
Outside Bezel Nut- 4
Inside Bezel Nut- 4
Headlight Retainer- 2
Retainer Screw- 6
LH Adjuster- 1
RH adjuster- 1
Adjuster Screw- 2 (40-0958)
Outside Adjuster Assembly- 2
Adjuster Screw- 2 (40-0955)
Rivet- 8
Headlight Spring- 2

The two adjuster screws are different, according to part numbers.

are you lokking at a online catalog. my papaer catalog doesnt show some of this stuff. it kind of looks right but i think you have toomuch stuff i might be wrong. what are inside and outside bezel nuts? are those the plastic thing that hold the screws? if so i think you only need the ones for the bezels. the headlight bucket is held in differently on the 70 grill i have. i dont have my 72 grill here to look at

thats straight from the LMC catalog. for 1970-72. It may be that they have all the 70-72 stuff listed, but you don't need everything for your year. Make sense?

edit: the "bezel nuts" are the plastic things that hold the screw yes. I need light mounting and "headlight door" mounting stuff, sorry if that wasnt clear.

thats the holes I have in the shell, and the rings have 3 a piece where they mount up with the bucket. Then of course the 4 holes in the headlight door/cover.

if you leave the old stuff on it i would say
2 headlight adjusters
2 springs
2 headlight bezel nuts with the extenders
3 of those round plastic headlight bucket cusions.
6 headlight ring screws and 8 headlight bezel screws.
