Okay... FYI...
I just got off the phone with LMC... their customer service "research" rep called and said the mast they sell for $27 on page 33 of their recent catalog ( http://lmctruck.com/icatalog/fb/0033.asp ) is an authorized Ford reproduction mast, and is the same as the original. I have ordered one to be sure, so I hope they are not lying. Their shipping rates totally suck, though!
I hope it works and some meanie doesn't snap it off. If they do, I'll cut my mast stub down and go with the autozone deal.

the last time someone broke mine off . i just remove the broken piece on the stuc and pushed the mast back on it. since i had done this before it was getting kind of hard to do. because there was a stop or something up inside keeping it from going all the way down. and then when it got broke the very last time. i couldn reuse the mast any more and i havent been able to get the old borke mast off my stud now.

$#*@! LMC... I got my antenna from UPS last night, and not only is it NOT the airfoil style antenna, but it's not even the right part! The one I got from them has a little screw-base at the bottom, which is connected to the antenna. So unless the "stub" of my old antenna screws off, there is no way this is the right part.Supermike wrote:I just got off the phone with LMC... their customer service "research" rep called and said the mast they sell for $27 on page 33 of their recent catalog ( http://lmctruck.com/icatalog/fb/0033.asp ) is an authorized Ford reproduction mast, and is the same as the original. Interestingly, the bag it was in has a Dennis Carpenter sticker on it, but it was partially markered out and had another sticker over the top of it. But you could see the DC logo when you held it to the light.
Time to call them...

A lot of LMC's stuff is Dennis Carpenter. That's why I buy directly from Carpenter if I can't can't find NOS or excellent used.Supermike wrote:$#*@! LMC... Well, Carpenter didn't list any masts for the 67-72, so when I called LMC about theirs, I explicitely asked if it was the airfoil/teardrop shaped mast, and whether it was the kind that slid down over the antenna stub. I was assured it was by their customer service, and was 'a Ford authorized reproduction'. From the looks of it, though, it maybe fits the dents...

LMC is going to refund the item and my shipping... she said she did see the note that I was told it was an authentic/authorized reproduction, which it is not.
From what I can tell, no-one makes reproduction MASTS for these antennas... just the whole deal. It must have something to do with the way the mast mounted to the antenna stub?

Mine was just a friction fit... had to pull pretty firmly to get it off.... uh.... I prolly should re-phrase that.
