I am disassembling my Camper Special and will be for some time. I'm not yet sure if I want to take the cab off. If I do, I'd like to know what I'm getting into when putting everything together. I noticed that the radiator supports have a huge hole ( I assume is for adjusting alignment ).
I would guess that the cab mounts are the same way.
How do you line everything up? It does not appear that the bed has any room for adjustment. Do you put on the bed first then cab then clip? It always seems that people put on the cab first, then clip, then bed.
The cab mounts look good. but it would be nice to remove the cab and clean the grease and paint it up underneath. I don't know whether I would be getting in over my head. Handling the cab would be an issue(never done this much of a job before)
I would appreciate any input

i will repeat what i've read. put the bed on first. it has no rubber mounts it mounts right to the frame. then put the cab and new cab mounts on the put the front clip on with new core support mounts. remember how many washers came out of the rad support when you take it off. and put that many back in when you put it on. i think the cab bolts can be tightened down to match the bed bump line. the front clip works basically the same way with the washers and the tightness of the bolts.

I just did a cab swap, and the ammount of washers and tightness is correct that fordman says. I also put my bed on first, it was actually easier to do than I thought it would be. The hardest part for me was and still is putting the clutch mechanisms in the new cab.

When putting on the rad support, do you attach the inner and outer fenders temporarily to get the alignment, then tighten the rad support bolts and put on the inner and outer fenders as needed at a later date?
Also, I noticed that there are no nuts on the bottom of the rear mounts.
Is that the way it is suppose to be or did they just fall off over the years?

i would assemble everything when putting the rad support on. it would show the bump so it could line up with the door.
the nuts for the rear cab mounts are hidden up inside the rubber. clamp a pair of vise grips onto the washer on the bottom side of the rubber. that will hold the nut still while you take the bolt out.
