Steering gear spacer?

Post by atcaw94 »

I'm replacing the power steering box on my 68 and the top hole where it mounts to the frame won't line up. It's maybe a 1/2" or so from the frame. Is there a spacer that goes in there? I did not notice one when I pulled the old one off. I've pushed, pulled, wiggled, etc, and can't get it any closer to the frame.
Thanks/

no it bolts directly to the frame. loosen up the steering column and let it move over to it. it will go that much. it is enough that it will work.

and something else i jsut thought of it could be bad cab alignment to the frame. has the cab been off recently? how are the cab mounts and rubber bushings? maybe at one time in the trucks life the frame may have been tweaked. these are just possibilties.

Cab hasn't been off of frame. It's hard fighting that 45lb box by yourself
