Cab Mounts

Post by ford4x4fun »

I had to cut the cab mounts off of the frame that I am putting a new body on, the other ones are good, but I can't figure out how to get them off, is there a trick for this or do I just have to design new ones???

are you just having trouble with the bolts? you can remove the access plate and put a socekt in there to hold the head of the bolt and then put another socket on the nut below. then it should just come off with enough force.

If you're talking about the frame mounts for the front of the cab, those are riveted on. Just grind the heads off and pound out the rivets, and then bolt them onto your other frame.

I allready have the cab off, but where the bushings actually go, have a metal piece holding them on the frame, that doesn't come off.

OK, we need more clear info. Are you referring to the steel mounts or the rubber bushings? And are you referring to the front or the rear of the cab?

There are 6 cab mounts for the cab. All 6 have a rubber bushing betwean the cab and the frame, and a bushing under the frame. Holding those bushings in place there is a piece of metal that holds them there that the actual bolts run through. I had to cut those off of the new frame, because they where rusted real bad. I can't figure out how to get them off of the old frame.

In this picture you can see where the front clip hooks up and the front cab mounts. Those are the things I can't figure out. Thanks for any and all help.

They'll pop apart as long as they're not rusted together...and 90% of the time they are, meaning you'll have to cut them off and order replacements from a vendor.
