re: bed collecting water
As a side note: if you're creating new drainage holes, do keep in mind that any water that's able to reach the frame rails will do a wonderful job contributing to rot. When cleaning up the '70, I found some rather pitted areas on the top of the frame rails around the bed mounts - Partly thanks to the unbelievable amounts of dirt accumulated/caked on the top surfaces of the frame.

Guess I don't have to worry about the water build up in the '72, one of these days I will get another bed for it. LOL!!!
My '73 has a shell on it so it stays rather dry in there. Interesting, I never knew there was any weep holes in the beds before.
