67' to 71' grille exchange

Post by basketcase0302 »

Hey ya'll,

I think I found the answer here:
http://www.fordification.com/interchang ... htm#Grille
Has anybody here changed a 1971 front grill assembly to a 1967?
Do I have to change anything other than the headlight buckets? (Fenders, hood, radiator support the same)?

Thanks in advance.

You also will have to use the valance from the 71 along with the turn signals. Also not to sure but i think the upper part that is painted next to the hood latch is differnt. You might even have to drill some new holes as i think some of the bolts are placed differnt.

The existing '67 upper valance panel will work just fine, as long as you use the matching upper valance. As stated, there are two lower valance panels: '67-'69 and '70-'72. Just use whichever one matches the grille. A later valance will work on an early grille (but will look odd), but an early valance will not work with a later grille.

Now I just gotta save up some beans to go 67' boneyard shopping!
Actually, I spotted a 67' for sale yesterday down the street in lakeland. I had to go service a bank, when i came back by...it was gone!
Price on the windshield said $600 OBO

Thanks again,

WHOOPS! I just re-read my post above, and what I MEANT to say was that the existing '67 upper valance panel will work just fine, as long as you use the matching hood latch receiver. Hopefully you knew what I meant.

some one mentioned something awhile back about a extra bolt hole that might have to be drill if you were putting a 71 grill on a 67. i think it was flyboy that said that. it may have been the other way around i dont remember. but the hole would be drilled in the fender front and or core support. it mihgt be able to be skipped though.

Thanks again guys!

So if I'm not reading into this too hard..(which I've got a habit of doing sometimes)!

I'd need the 67' grille, lower valance, and possibly drill some new holes for the front fender/radiator core support.

Yep, that should do it.

Oh, and since the grille's a '67, maybe a little box of....um....'protection'.
