popping noise

Post by 67 ford f100s rule »

in my truck when you turn the wheel there is this loud popping noise. My grandpa told me it could be the kingpins. Can anyone help.

it is a tie rod or maybe the king pins or one of the other steering components that the socket is worn out on. you just have to get under there and checkl to see whihc socket has play in it. if its the king pins you have to jack up the tires and see if the tire will move in and out at the top and bottom at the same time.

I'd also check out the radius arm bushings. If those are shot, making a turn will cause the front end to shift a little bit....obviously not a good thing...and will make some noise.
