rim width and tire size

Post by ezernut9mm »

will 235/75 15's be too narrow for 8" rims? if so, what size will be right? 245? 255? i don't want any flotation type tires.

The tire width is 9.25 so an 8 inch rim will be fine!!!!

Uh oh, missing post again...

As I said earlier,

BFG says 6-7" for a 235/75 Longtrail TA.

The Radial TA come in a 235/70 and they seem a bit more lenient about wheel width on them.

Your best bet is to contact the manufacturer of the specific tire that you are considering.

I have 235x75x15 on 8wide chrome spokes. They are good, but the 255x70 they replaced looked better.

I admit that 235/75 15's (Originally a passenger car tire size) look good when mounted on 8" rims.

You could go one better with 31x10.5x15's (A flotation tire) mounted on 8" rims.
There one of the best wheel/tire combinations on a truck for the past 30+ years.
