Body mounts

Post by Faltura »

When removing the radiator support, I noticed that the rubber mounts are squashed down and the metal washers are very rusty. They don't come off easy. Is there a trick to getting them off or will several heavy blows with a hammer work?

Also, If I replace the bed mounts, should I replace the cab mounts so that the chrome will line up along the length of the truck. Or will that make any difference? Do you have to crank on the mount nuts to make the cab/bed line up correctly?

If the cab ones are in good shape, don't worry with them. It's normally the fronts that are bad. The front frame horn core support mounts on mine are the same as yours. When I ordered all my new sheet metal, I will be doing the same thing, replacing them. I will probably cut the horns off and make new rails right there if I am not bagged yet. I believe they are just sorta rusted on, I would wait on a second opinion though.

take a chiseal or something like that and drive it down to the side of the center of the hole. you will hit the bottom opf the two piece steel washer tha t holds it all together.

the bed doesnt have rubber mounts you wont have to mess with that. i am unsure how tight you would have to make the front or rear mounts on the truck to make them line up with the bed. the rad support bushing will have washer under them or between them i mean. those are the adjustment for the front clip count how many are there and try and put that many back in when your redoing it.
