Cab removal

Post by Rjan »

Hey , I am in the same boat as you. Taking my cab off tomorrow. Never done it before. I'll let you know of any problems I encounter. I somehow managed to get a perfect cab with next to no rust. The wierd thing is, is that the bed and frame that its sitting on is rusted to crap.. It's almost like the cab had been replaced before..

Rjan,

I too have this to look forward too!
If I ever get my 4 X 4 frame here.
I've pulled them before where a torch is your best buddy, (when the cab bushings are rotted and the bolts are so rusty they aren't worth saving).
Cool deal to find a good cab!

Hey guys...

One of the hardest things I ran into removing the cab on the '71 parts truck, was unhooking the e-brake cable from the assembly.
The cable runs through the hole at tthe bottom of the firewall.
I had a heck of a time getting enough slack in the cable to get it disconnected...
after fighting with for 45 minutes or so...
it dawned on me to loosen the e-brake adjustment under the truck...
then it came out pretty easy.

Good luck with yer swap...
