Urgent torque specs, trying to finish today!

Post by Banjo »

Anyone know what the torque specs are on the drag link/tie rod ends? These are the castilated nuts w/cotter pin.
Also, read on here about seating wheel bearings at 20 foot pounds and then backing off to 20 inch pounds on spindle nut. What if I only have torque wrench that reads footpounds (antique beam style)??
I'm getting close guys, BEAR with me and I'll quit being such a damn pest and be more assistance! Banjo.

my book doesnt say much of anything about torque for those. i would tighten them until they are seated and then tighten until you can insert the cotter pin. the wheel bearing i tiighten until the disc drags and then lossen until i can insert cotter pin and keeper correctly. but not to loose.

Then drive it for 20-30 miles, and lift the front end and check for play in the spindle assembly, and looseness of the spindle nut.
