I need a pic of this certain brake system part on a 60's or 70's 4x4 (Im not sure of the exact part name) but it distributes the brakes to the MC, front brakes, and rear brakes. Im need to see where it mounts on the frame so I can start the brakes on my f250.
2B257 in this pic if you dont know what im talking about

Boots, got no dig camera, but if you run search on here for "distribution block" you'll probably find a picture. They have 2 lines coming in from master cylinder and two lines going out to front brakes and one line going out to rear brakes if I remember. Banjo.

oh yeah, on a 2 wheel drive, it's inside the frame just below where it attaches to the cab under driver. If you look at your driver side cab mount riveted to the frame, there should be a bolt hole just behind those cab mount support rivets in the middle of the frame. It mounts on a little frame with a bolt and lock washer and nut. If your rear brake line is still in place, you can trace it forward and where it ends you'll probably see this hole in the frame. WARNING, this is 2 wheel drive only, I know nothing of 4 wheel drive, and I only know my 68 I've worked on.

I'm not disagreeing with your parts catalog, just advising him I've ran the searches on this webcite to do my disc conversion and if he'll use the search feature on this cite, and use the words "distribution block", I know he'll find photo, I've seen it but didn't save it. Just trying to get him to a picture on this cite, that's all...Banjo.

Aye but what does a ford service manual call. I have always enjoyed the many names the same part is given in the mfg publications.67heavystepside wrote:i work in ford parts dealedship

re: need a brake pic please
Here's a couple pics of the 2WD version....I'm pretty sure it's the same used on the 4WDs and mounted in the same location.
This first picture is a comparison of the 2WD drum brake distribution block and the disc brake proportioning valve.

Here's one showing the proper line hook-up:

1 - Out to rear brakes
2 - Out to left-front brakes
3 - Out to right-front brakes
4 - In from rear master cylinder reservoir
5 - In from front master cylinder reservoir
(NOTE: The rear master cylinder reservoir feeds the front brakes, the front master cylinder reservoir feeds the rear brakes.)
