Well, I'm torn. The kid didn't get his salary docked, it was the small business owner (1 man shop, exhaust/machine) and I figure the guys not getting rich (though he drives fairly new trucks and lives in a much nicer neighborhood than me). I'm just too sympathetic to folks sometime and let them run over me. What's bad is I had cleaned ibeams and wrote in orange paint stick "bushing lip this side" and drew arrow. As you all know, the ibeam pivot bushings truly only have 1 lip. How could the kid miss that??? Banjo.

Its a Hell of a nice gesture on your part to even consider helping out the shop owner Banjo. It shows a lot of class on your part. But I've been a business owner in the past, and odds are he wont take the money from you. I would have cut off my left nut before I would have taken extra money from a customer for MY screw up.
The best gesture you can make is to be a return customer and send others his way as well. He will appreciate that far more then the extra $45.

I always paid for my screw ups when I owned my shop. All apart of the education process. As a business owner I wanted to build my business off of trust. I screw it up, I pay for it. I wanted the customer to come back again.

:yt: I agree with the two guys above... I always go back to the people who don't charge for there mistakes or don't charge for a quick 15 min job or some of there scrap material... Those are the ones that I tell my friends about as they are honest enough to admit they screwed up and made it right...
The ones that mess up and still charge me are the ones I never see again and also tell my friends to stay away from
We all make mistakes, how they are handled makes the difference  :2cents:
