proper leaf spring placement help

Post by mnagatani »

Ok gang I've got a question regarding what is the correct leaf spring installation setup. So when I pulled the spring perches out I didn't pay attention to what is the foward side of the leaf spring. The picture shows installing the leaf spring in two different positions. One, the lower being the centerbolt of the spring behind the centerline and the driver side foward of the centerline. Hope the picture helps answer my question as to which side of the center bolt on the spring does it need to be, foward or behind the centerline.

Thanks

the spring forward on top of the pic looks correct to me. i think it has to go under the bracket thing for the rubber bumper to bounce against if it bottoms out.

If you look closely, you'll notice that the rearend doesn't attach directly to the center of each spring. There's a long side and a short side....the long side goes to the rear, the short side goes to the front. This will put the rearend tubes directly ON the centerline, where the snubber will contact the tube.

In your attached picture, it appears that the far side is correct, the near side is backwards....because you can tell that the rearend tube isn't directly below the centerline.

Thanks all for the reply. I did notice a long and short side based on where the hole lies. So the short side foward seems to be the correct position. This board is a real gift Keith. Keep up the great job and everyone supporting it!

Here's a picture of mine. Not the best looking thing but might help.
