Help Please !!!

Post by ssotello »

I have owned a 66 F100 short box pickup since 1975. I restored it in 1978 and replaced both doors and the cab. The restore was a frame up job and the frame was painted. I am recently divorced and the truck went to me. I went re-title the truck and discovered that the VIN was mistyped back in 75 when I bought it....instead of starting with an 'F' the VIN on the title starts with an 'E'...and Econoline VIN. To make a long story short I have taken the truck to the state DMV for them to locate the VIN on the frame. They have looked all over and have been unable to find it. I do not have the old plate from the original doors (my supid mistake) and if I cant find the VIN I am being told I dont really own the truck. Can anyone help guide me on where to look for the VIN anywhere except the cab and doors. The engine and trans have been replaced as well. Thank you so much....please dont let them take my truck....Steve

you will have to check the frame. as on the 67-72 trucks the vin# is on the right side of the frame behind where the eng. sits. i don't know on your year of truck but i'm pretty sure you can locate it in or around the same area. good luck

I noticed you also posted this same question in the General Discussion forum. Please post a question in one forum only, to keep things from getting too confusing. I'm going to leave the that thread open and am locking this one.
