Yeah my '72 has the heavy duty rear step bumper. For the front you'd probably be best to make one, since it is more or less straight it shouldn't be too hard at all.
I am looking into after market front bumpers for my '97 and they run $1K+ I'd hate to see what they would want for one for a 30+ year old truck.

After market front bumpers aren't that bad, if you can find the mounts. I don't know if the repop those. I know they don't reproduce the rear bumper mounts.
I have a heavy duty bumper on my '67 CS... I don't know if it's original or not. I'd like to see something that shows what the rear bumper options were on our trucks. I can't decide on mine whether to keep the rear bumper and have it regalvanized (can you do that?) or painted, or to replace it with a chrome bumper.

re: Farm Bumper?
Are you looking for the heavy gauge steel (like 1/8 inch) rear bumpers? My 67' and my 71' both have them. Very square, step-type, and super heavy duty. Don't know where in the world you'd find one, especially new.
I think they are well worth having if you plan to use it. These things will take a beating compared to newer stuff.

Re: re: Farm Bumper?
you would have to have some brackets made up to fit the bumper to your frame but it can be done.cghstrojan08 wrote:I am talking about the back. I have seen these ones that are one newer trucks that have build in hitches.

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.

I called a shop up in Vernon to find out how much it would cost to make heavy duty "Ranch Hand" style wraparound bumpers for a Suburban I had. They didn't have anything for the 73-91 C/K/Sub but they were willing to custom build one for the front for $695 and were pretty certain the 88-98 C/K rear bumper would fit fine and it was $395. Choice of chrome, stainless, or black powdercoat.
So after confirming that, I asked about the 67-72 Fords and their 34" frame rail width, and they said they'd be happy to make them but it would be $695 front and $595 back.
What I'd like to find is a "dealer installed" brush guard like I had on my '70 (see avatar). With the wire mesh over the grille opening and open places for the headlights, bolts onto the bumper mounting holes. I bet since it's flat bent metal, I could get one made at a local welding shop and have it powdercoated and then bolt it on myself. As for the rear bumper, I would just do the bracket/spacer thing since I want one of those with a drop center like you'd see on a dually.
