Howdy from a slick60s member

Post by Ripsnorter »

Hope its alright to post the name slick60s. some forums dont like things like that.

Anyway, about me.

I'm from Washington state, and I have 4 slicks (61-66), a '62 (daily driver) 63 F100, 63 F250, and a beautiful '66 that I'm trying to get running in that rare thing called "spare time"

I've been looking for a bump or early dent as my '62 is on it's last legs and I dont have time to work on any of my other trucks. So, MadMaxetc sent me on over here to poke around and possibly even find what i'm looking for in your for sale forum.

What I'm looking for in a bump, ideally anyway:

390 F250 (step or style, I like em both) 4x4 with a 4 speed. I dont want a highboy though as I like the simple, clean looks of a gentlemens bumpside.

What I'm willing to settle for:

360 F250 2WD with an automatic, as long it runs fairly reliably. Possibly even a 300 six.

So now you know me :) Howdy :)

Oh and by the way I've gone and looked at at least 10 or so bumps this weekend, and am on my way up today to look at several more. Hopefully by the end of today I'll actually have one :D

Quick question though: What was the difference in the trim package where some bumps had that chrome trim covering the bump, whereas others had just a sleek non-chrome bump down the side? I have to admit I find the simple non-trimmed bump the prettiest.

The higher end packages such as the Ranger or Custom Cabs would have had the chrome trim, while the base models didn't.
You can always remove the trim, and sell it if it's in good shape, and the weld up the holes.
Good luck on finding a truck, and welcome aboard!
We don't mind if you mention another website.

Learned something new. Thanks for the info.

was there an option for exactly how big of a lift you could get? or were they all the same? I've seen some 4x4s that were higher than 2WD of course, but not reaching for the sky either.

Thanks for the welcomes.

Well, I'm off again this evening for another hour and a half trip into town to look at 4 or so bumps. (and one 69 dodge 4WD. please dont stone me, I think theyre so ugly theyre cool)

Hopefully this trip will prove more fruitful than the other 2. I think this makes about 16 trucks I'll have looked at

A bumpside would be a nice addition to that collection of slicks.
Don't forget to post some pictures of the truck you finally end up with. :D Even if it's the Dodge. :P I like 'em too.
