a Q for keith

Post by lightning_msd »

Just looking at your choptop, man does it look good in flat black. so since im rebuilding my engine in my 90 F150, i decided i want to paint it in flat black as well... i was just wondering why you went with Krylon for the final coat? im doing the roll on rustoleom method. but want to spray something for final coat... the only krylon ive seen here in canada is called fusion or something for plastic. havent seen any krylon rust paint

I just used Krylon because it's got a reputation of being the most durable of the rattlecans...but in my case, where I was spraying it on top of a tacky coat of POR-15, I don't suppose it really mattered what brand I used.

You might consider using John Deere Blitz Black. It's actually got more of a satiny finish, and it extremly durable. (HAS to be, since it's basically implement paint!) and less than $30/gallon. It's what the choptop will eventually be painted with...in fact, I recently ordered several gallons of it and will be repainting the choptop once it's completely reassembled.

Read the following threads for more Blitz Black info:

Here's the long thread with most of the info, but it'll take a while to sort through: [CLICK HERE]
