Rust repair
A buddy of mine acquired a 67 'Stang for $2,000.00 cause it needed body work. There are 2 bad rust spots on the rear quarter and one of them has rusted through. How can I fix this right, can I just wire-wheel it and fill the hole with bondo, or do I need to cut and weld it The hole is about 1 inch in circumference.

i'd think bondo with that cloth they have behid it would work but would also reinvite the rust in just a few years. gettinga pannel from another stang or from aftermarket and welding would work best.

Body filler is meant for dents and dings, not rust repair. You need to cut rust out and replace it with good steel.Anything worth doing is worth doing right.

Not sure if you watch Musclecar on spike, but they repaired a C panel on a Charger a week or two ago and had a lot of great ideas and showed all the things he did wrong in the process.RedneckTexan wrote: O.K. I'll have to get some pics of my front fenders on the '72 where the PO filled the rust holes with bondo, each one was a good fist size lump of it and it was still rusting real good behind it. I am still trying to finesse the bondo on my new fenders that I welded up.
