rain gutter removal pics

Post by mnagatani »

I posted some pics in my gallery that show how I shaved my rain gutters. If you have any questions about the process, I'll try and explain the best I can.

Wow, some serious work has gone in to that baby. Really going to look good when you get her done. Did you seal up the seam along the top of the bump on the bed? I'm most interested in your sealing up the cowl vents. I haven't seen one with that smoothed over before. 8) Have you gone with a new heat and air unit that doesn't pull air through the cowl?

Ya that seam on the top of bumb did get sealed up. I'm not sure what I'll do with heat system. I think there are some street rod setups that will have to work since I've sealed up that area! I usually have weekends that I work on it. Its been a long process with some periods of not working on it all. I am really jazzed by this site and posting up pics of the progress. Its helps me stay motivated!

Great. Now please tell me you live in or near san diego, and could use some extra cash, and would love to do mine exactly the same way.

Please.

So did you cut off the rail and weld in a small strip in its place?

did you do it all at once or in a few steps to keep the position right?

Thanks,

Oh, it looks killer!

Yeah, where the drip rail was cut is where I placed the weld bead. The drip rail is sort of a body seam that connects the roof sheet and the window frame. Not knowing what I was getting into, it turned out to be a fairly straight forward deal. The most difficult part of the process is trying to reach over to the center area. There were some areas where I had some rust and thats where I added some sheet metal sections.

Great looking truck, I like the cowl weld up, any updates on your heating system,

I was thinking the same thing along with the dash getting rid of the heater controls, was also thinking of 86'ing the wipers too.

Make a summer only rig, figur with a big block spool and 373 gears,..

wouldnt be too fun in the winter anyway, plus we have rain X nowada

You know for a while there I was driving a car without winshield wipers. I'd rain-X every other day and would check the weather constantly. I missed out on all sorts of events in my life because of the chance of rain. Now I'm sure that you'll have another car to drive in the rain, and that this won't be your daily driver. But it was for me and it's a nightmare I won't forget! IMO wiper delete is no good.
