tailgate

Post by Pipes71 »

Hey guys..I got the stock tailgate on my truck..has minor rust about maybe 3 inches on the part under the ford imprint, looks real patchable as its flat..but not all dinged up..only prob is its got a bow in it..I think it might be from when the bed was hit on the drivers side..is there a way to straighten it or do you guys think its pretty much a waste of time?
thanks in advance!

That area you're describing is usually the first to rust out on these tailgates, and since they normally rust from the inside out, usually by the time you start to see it poking through it one spot, it's 99% ready to come through in others. You could patch that area, but I'll bet it's going to be very very thin....and be prepared to find other spots that'll also need it.

I'd start keeping your eyes open for a better tailgate.
