New In Macon Georgia

Post by 73silvercloud »

Ford bumpsides have played a significant role during most of my 53 years of life. Dad purchased a new light blue over colonial white LWB 69 Ranger in 1969. His father purchased a new green (cannot remember the correct name of the same) SWB 1970 Custom in 1970. My Grandfather's two farmer brothers purchased a light blue over colonial white LWB Sport Custom in May of 1972. I am the current proud owner of the same. I clearly remember the truck being factory fresh. It is now completely disassembled. It will receive a stock rebuild in honor of my great uncles who farmed my family homestead. The cab, fenders and bed sides were in excellent shape. Years of hauling pigs and cows, however, ruined the bed floor. I missed having this truck to drive. When a nice 72 red over colonial white LWB Ranger XLT became available 5 years ago for an amazing $700.00. It was added to the stable. The XLT needs a repaint and new fenders but, the body is otherwise sound. The engine chugs along getting a wonderful 20 miles per quart of oil javascript:emoticon('')
Laughing. I have rebuilt a 360 that is waiting for installation. I will also upgrade to front disc brakes. Finally, A/C will be added. If you have lived in Georgia during the summer, you are aware that you can break into a full sweat at 7:00 pm by simply standing outdoors!! A/C is NOT optional!!
Two years ago, a 1969 green over colonial white LWB Ranger was offered for sale for $200.00. One more bumpside joined the family. It was purchased for parts but, maybe it will be returned to the road.

The quality of this website is impressive. I recognize and appreciate the hard work that has gone into the information posted here. I look forward to communicating with all of you. We have a great hobby/avocation filled with great people. Thank you!

Welcome from northern California. I am the proud owner of a 1972 F250 that I paid ONLY $400, :D and I have only "invested" $2500 in it since. I am getting ready to rebuild a 390 and the tranny.....the money goes on, but the truck just get better.

73Silvercloud,
Welcome! We are glad you're here and hope you enjoy the place. Pull up a chair and set awhile.

The story is great! I love it when the history is known about these old trucks...plus the fact your uncle had it is cool.

Good luck with the rebuild and we look forward to the updates.
