Master should be a direct bolt up.Something to check here though.It sticks in my head that some brake boosters used an adjustable rod where the master bolts to the booster.When you bolt the master on it should sit flush on it's mounting flange without force.If the rod is too long it will prevent the master cylinder piston from returning to the released position. This in turn will make the brakes difficult/impossible to bleed or drag or both. :)
