cab mounts
i noticed my front end was cricked on my truck the other day and i figured the owner before had used a high lift on the front bumper and twisted it but instead it appears my passenger side cab mount is totaly rotted out and is sitting on the frame, so i looked at the driver side and its gone too its just sitting on a one by four. if i stick another one under my passengetr side will it screw it up more and will the boards hold the wieght of the cab?

using wood to support the cab will work for a temp fix. but it changes the weigh distribution of the mounts to the center of the floor of the cab. its not a good temp fix really. a better temp fix would be to use two pieces of plate steel made into a L shape. and weld that over the top of your original cab mounts. that would be better than wood under the floor of the cab. of course the best fix would be to get replacement mounts for the cab and weld those in. if you dont have money to buy new mounts you can get used mounts from another cab from 67 -79 they will work. i am going to use a used cab mount that i took from a 78 it wasnt too hard to remove the old flooring from it once i cut the floor and mount from the other cab.
