What is this style of wheel called?

I may have missed something, but, what truck are those wheels on? That's not an F250!

the general rule is "if it's for hire than you need a cdl". a privately registerd truck like that shoouldn't need one.

If the GVWR is 26,001 pounds or more it is a class 7 or 8 truck and you need a CDL to drive it. Anything that is 26,000 pounds or less is non-CDL.

Those are the rules in Washington. I don't know if that's a nationwide thing or not.

I should add that for insurance purposes, it's still considered a commercial vehicle. As far as I know, the only way I could put it on a non-commercial policy would be to install a fifth wheel hitch and call it an RV. There are a number of insurance companies that told me they would accept that.

I've heard of the RV route for bigger trucks. I think the CDL rules are nation-wide. As I understand it the whole idea when the rules changed back in 1990 or so was to make uniform rules for the whole country to crack down on multi state licenses and things like that.

What hobby requires a crane anyway?

None of the hobbies require a crane but it's really handy. A lot of the servers that I work and play with are upwards of 3000 pounds. Some of my motorcycles are around 800 pounds. My generator is probably around 1500+ pounds. When working on vehicles, it's really hard to lift a body off a frame without a crane.

With that said, I've moved all those items for the last several years with no crane but I'm sick of it!

I never noticed the optical illusion before. He even let my have a try with the crane. After we moved the trucks away, of course. All of us who own trucks know about friends and family wanting to borrow. The crane will make you even more popular.
