Howdy fron West Texas

Post by oldbiker »

Just wanted to say hello, I hava 68 F-250 Camper Special. I have had it many years. I am going to improve on it in the near future. It is in excellent shape and has been in an garage or carport its whole life. I have purchased long ago disk brake assembly ( I beams & all) and they have just been setting around. It is a daily driver that really has no purpose now that gas is so high that I can't (or won't) drive it everyday, so I might as well tinker w/her. I have used forums before on my 96 F-350 Powerstroke as well as my Studebaker Hawk. Looks like I can find as much info and tips here!! :D

Welcome aboard!
A tip to make your disc brake conversion easier: You don't have to replace the spindles and I-beams. On the F250 The brake mounting bracket bolts onto the spindle, it isn't cast in like the F100. So all you need to do is unbolt your old brake hardware and bolt on the disc brake stuff.

Many thanks for the welcome!!!!! Well I graduated from Odessa High back in 71, Have lived all over the world (Uncle Sams' Canoe Club) an most of the US, Now in Colorado City, Tx.. Thanks for tip on disk brakes, I haven't even looked close at what I will need to do.. I gotta admit I do get kinda lost on some of the threads, I tried to use the search and got real lost  I really need to think this thing out. This is a virgin truck that works well, little overheating issue, but most had that even when I bought one brand new in 69.. Y'all seem very well informed and I didn't see any flammin going on..I like that.. I really wished we had the internet a long time ago. It is great to run into Ford people, Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!

Well that is a nice truck. If you graduated from OHS in '71 I'm sure you know where Crane is. And being in Colorado City you are not far from mymatt he is in Bronte. We had another member in abilene But I never met him, and can't recall his screen name at the moment. Up until about 6 months ago I was thur that part of the country about once a month . i still have family in Crane , Odessa , Abilene and Ranger . Who knows maybe before to long I'll get thur Coloroda City and we can have a Coke. Ever heard of Woods Boots (I'm just kidding)just a note for those not in the know Woods boots is kinda an icon for Colorado City biggest landmark sits right on I-20.

Thunderfoot, I thank you for the complement, I dunno if I need to do anything to her, just seems like I should. She runs good for a 360, never had a problem at all till I pulled a 16' loaded trailer for 8 hours in the summer!! She got a little warm when I shut her off to get fuel
wt4speed#2, would be glad to buy you a Coke at the Sonic or Dairy Queen!! Yup used to hunt jack rabbits by Crane as a younger :D Sill make it to Horsehead crossing down by Imperial every now and then just to do some blasting...
