raising front end to accomidate 31 in. tires

Post by michael »

I'm wanting to put 31 inch tires on my 72 ranger . instead of putting spring expanders can I flip the front I-Beams over? this looks like I would gain about 4 inches.

31's will fit stock height no problem. You can't flip beams.

Micheal, from the words of experience, no go on the flip. lol lol We had a discusion on this very subject a long time ago and I used my truck as the guinney pig. It won't work. But the 31's that are under my 250 fit just fine stock.

The tires will be 31 by 10's. There going on a 72 2wd ranger xlt long bed. I had a 72 custom long bed years ago and ran 31's on it ,but had to put spacers in the coils to keep the tires from rubbing in turns.

I am looking at running 31x10.5, the diameter looks fine but I haven't measured what 10.5" will do.

If 31s dont fit your 72 with stock suspension. Then you need to replace the front coil springs.
