Welding corner cowl panels on.

Post by JWW »

I'm planning to weld some corner cowl panels on my 67. Can you place the panels on the inside of the cab and weld that way, or do you always have to place the panels on the outside? I'm learning as I go. Thanks

I don't think you can get to the inside. Access would be very limited. I hope we are talking about the same piece, though

We need to clarify what you're working on. The cowl is the area just in front of the windshield, with the vent slots in it. However, since you mentioned removing the fuel tank, I'm thinking maybe you're talking about replacing the rear cab corners?

Keith, you are correct. It is the rear cab corners. I got the areas mixed up.

Can you weld the cab corners with new panels by placing them on the inside?

Thanks

I don't think so. The bottom seam on the replacement panel I used was made to be placed on from the outside. Here are some PICS. I cut the panel down to use only what I needed to replace.

I drilled out the spotwelds along the bottom and cut along the top with a die grinder thaen just pried it out. There was seam sealer holding it together on the bottom along with the spotwelds.
