sandblast, por15?
Now if you sandblast everything is that enough for the por15 or do you have to actually use the metal ready etc. to etch after sandblasting for best results with por15, any thoughts/experiences?

My experience is Por15 WILL lift, but only on smooth surfaces like paint or clean metal. Think its safe to say it will stick to sandblasted surfaces pretty much like it does to rust.

umm.. If you're using Pour Over Rust-15, why are you bothering to sandblast?
From all I have heard/read it bonds to the rust and eliminates the need for sandblasting. Sounds like extra work sandblasting, and may not work as well over clean metal.

re: sandblast, por15?
scrapped all the undercoat off and sanded some of the frame and looks pitted, so thinking paint in there. Here is a pic will it work just POR15 on this or should I get sandblasted to clear the pitting holes also?

re: sandblast, por15?
Just read this in another forum, so leary about spraying it...Anyone use the foam brush with POR15? Ive used it with a bristle brush but the bristles kept coming out and a pain to get those out of the POR15 before it starts drying....
Emailed a POR15 place and there saying just metal ready and metal etch and should be good to go. I probably will get it sandblasted anyway to get the crossmembers all done and the inside of the C-channel which is a pain...just will cost less since they will charge me by the hour.
Be careful spraying POR15. If you read their label or ask for a MSDS you'll see it has Isocyanates in it. This chemical will cause you harm if you breath it in. Organic masks will not filter out this chemical, you need a fresh air system if you're going to spray it. I know a guy who didn't and ended up in the E-room because he couldn't breath

re: sandblast, por15?
I've used a foam brush and it will work. I prefer bristle brushes but you have to spend a good bit to get one the bristles don't come out of and its trashed when you are done.
Metal ready and POR15 should fix that up no problem! Don't forget if you are going to top coat it, you need to do so before it is totally dry, or use tie coat.
Follow the directions (which means use the metal ready) and it will not lift.

re: sandblast, por15?
If youre trying to make it show quality powder coat it. Or epoxy primer it and topcoat w/ enamel. Por 15 has got its drawbacks.
